A TRITON Perspective on IT/OT Convergence

Most public discussion surrounding the TRITON framework has focused on the attack impacts and the development of malware to target industrial safety systems. However, little has been said about the intrusion lifecycle and the tools used to reach the ultimate objective. This talk will illustrate the challenges of IT/OT convergence and highlight the role played by IT tools throughout the incident.

Daniel Kapellmann

Daniel Kapellmann works as a Senior Analyst for FireEye’s cyber-physical threat intelligence team. As a former Fulbright scholar, he holds a master’s degree from the University of Washington in Information Management with a specialization in cybersecurity. His multidisciplinary background includes work experience ranging from consulting to IT planning & architecture in the energy sector. Among other achievements, he was awarded first place at Kaspersky Academy Talent Lab's 2017 for designing an application to address security beyond anti-virus. In his free time, he is also a journalist, writing for organizations such as Bertelsmann Stiftung, Siemens Stiftung, OECD, and Fair Observer.
