Debunking the Myths: Threat-based Cyber Policy Prescriptions

Too often our cybersecurity policy prescriptions are rooted in a vague and incomplete understanding of the threat landscape and technology ecosystem. This session will introduce a conceptual framework for helping congressional staffers think about the nuanced threats to our industrial control systems and the different legislative, statutory, and regulatory options for dealing with them. It incorporates insights from nine industry verticals and the state level.

Dave Weinstein

Claroty, Inc.

Dave Weinstein is the Vice President of Threat Research at Claroty, Inc., a Cybersecurity Policy Fellow at New America, and a Visiting Fellow at George Mason University’s National Security Institute. Prior to joining Claroty he served as the Chief Technology Officer of New Jersey. He began his career as a Computer Network Operations Planner at U.S. Cyber Command and holds degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. His analysis and commentary on cybersecurity has been featured in numerous publications, including but not limited to The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Bloomberg, and The Boston Globe.
